Paediatric Oncology

Paediatric oncology focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and long-term follow-up of cancers in children and adolescents up to the age of 18, including solid tumours, lymphomas and leukaemias. Childhood cancers behave differently from adult cancers and call for care designed around young patients and their families. MedLuxLife coordinates assessments and treatment at our partner hospital, helping families with records, appointments, travel and communication throughout the course of care.

Treatments and services

Diagnosis and staging

Thorough evaluation of suspected childhood tumours, lymphomas and leukaemias to establish the diagnosis and the extent of the disease.

Surgery

Surgical removal of tumours may form part of the treatment plan, depending on tumour type and spread.

Chemotherapy

Drug-based cancer treatment planned individually for each child, delivered on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

Radiotherapy

Radiation treatment may be recommended for certain tumour types as part of a combined plan.

Immunotherapy

Treatments that engage the immune system can be considered for selected childhood cancers.

Stem cell transplantation

Stem cell transplantation is among the treatment options for some childhood cancers and blood diseases.

Paediatric haematology-oncology clinic

Outpatient and inpatient care in a dedicated paediatric haematology-oncology clinic, with single rooms that allow a parent to stay with the child during monitoring and treatment.

Outpatient chemotherapy unit

A day unit for short treatments and blood transfusions, so that many children can return home the same day.

Dedicated children’s outpatient floor

Outpatient consultations take place on a separate floor reserved for children with cancer, leukaemia and blood diseases.

Long-term follow-up

Structured follow-up after treatment to monitor recovery and the child’s ongoing health.
