Medical Microbiology

Medical microbiology provides the laboratory testing behind the diagnosis and treatment of infections. The laboratories at our partner hospital support inpatient, outpatient and emergency care across bacteriology, virology, parasitology, mycology, molecular microbiology and infection immunology, with a broad and regularly updated test panel. MedLuxLife coordinates sample collection during your visit and ensures your results are translated and shared with your doctors.

Medical Microbiology - specialist hospital care

Treatments and services

Bacteriology

Identification of bacteria and antibiotic susceptibility testing, combining classical culture with rapid confirmatory methods and same-day stained microscopy.

Mycobacteriology (tuberculosis)

Isolation and identification of acid-fast organisms such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex, including molecular methods and the Quantiferon TB Gold test.

Virology

Antigen and antibody serology, sensitive detection of HIV and hepatitis agents, and confirmatory testing where needed.

Parasitology

Diagnosis of parasitic infections using classical methods supported by serological tests.

Mycology

Identification of yeasts, dermatophytes and moulds, plus galactomannan antigen testing for suspected aspergillus infection in immunocompromised patients.

Molecular microbiology

PCR-based detection, genotyping and viral load testing, including viruses monitored after transplantation.

Syndromic molecular panels

Rapid multiplex testing of blood cultures, respiratory, gastrointestinal, cerebrospinal and joint fluid samples, with simultaneous detection of resistance genes.

Infection immunology

Immunological tests that support the diagnosis of infectious diseases.

Round-the-clock service

The laboratory operates 24 hours a day and works closely with clinicians on diagnosis and treatment.
